About the Authors:

GM Sipke Ernst [FIDE 2606]

is an International Grandmaster and a member of the Dutch team that played in the 2002 Chess Olympiad and in the 2009 European Championship. As an active player, he is known for his creative attacking style. He has won many strong International events around the globe. GM Ernst is an experienced chess coach.

IM David Fitzsimons [FIDE 2416]

is an International Master from Ireland. He achieved this title in 2018 having reached a peak rating of 2416 in 2015, and scoring his three IM norms in consecutive seasons of the Four Nations Chess League (4NCL) from 2016 – 2018. He became the first and only Irish player to win an international open event, the inaugural Summer Prague Open in 2014, and has won numerous tournaments and national and regional titles in classical chess, rapid, and blitz. He has played for Ireland in two Olympiads (2010 and 2018) and has been selected to represent Ireland again at the upcoming Moscow Olympiad.

IM Alex Battey [FIDE 2403]

is an International Master from the U.S. He has won multiple prestigious tournaments and taught over 100 private students in the past 10 years. Alex has experience teaching chess in schools, for both a private company and as part of the outreach program at Texas Tech University. He is an attacking player and always plays for the win.

IM Mat Kolosowski [FIDE 2451]

is an International Master from Poland. He is a multiple Polish youth championship medalist. In 2010 he took 5th place in European U-18 Championship. During the course of his chess career Mat won many international tournaments. Apart from being a player, he is also a chess coach who has experience working with students from more than 20 countries. So far he helped a few of them in obtaining their own international titles. Mat has also performed live commentary of the Polish and European Rapid and Blitz Championships.

GM Bryan Smith [FIDE 2503]

is an American Grandmaster and chess coach. GM Smith has won many international tournaments including Limpedea Cup (Romania), Citta di Erba (Italy), Easter International (Serbia), Philadelphia International, National Chess Congress, US Masters, etc.

IM Bence Szabo [FIDE 2406]

is a Hungarian International Master and an active tournament player. Bence previously held the National and European Youth Champion title. IM Szabo has over 10 years of coaching experience with some of his top students becoming National Champions in different age categories and claiming various international norms and titles. Bence works as a head coach in one of the largest chess schools in Hungary. He has worked with multiple medal-winning Olympic Grandmasters and other top talents.

FM Nikolay Yordanov [FIDE 2305]

is a FIDE trainer with 5 years of experience as a chess coach for beginners. He has participated in three World and one European Chess Championships. He is a multiple national junior champion among boys under 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 in Bulgaria and a winner of many tournaments in Bulgaria and France. He has been studying chess teaching at the National Sports Academy (2005-2007). FM Yordanov trains a lot of kids from the age of 5 to the age of 18. The most important thing is that he has a unique approach to the kids and knows how to inspire them to learn chess. He is a very aggressive chess player, always playing for an attack, looking for sacrifices, and playing very beautiful chess. Some of his students have succeeded at the national level and, hopefully, they will take their part on the international scene.

IM Boroljub Zlatanovic [FIDE 2438]

Boroljub Zlatanovic is an International Master and a professional chess coach from Serbia. Boroljub has been coaching chess for over 15 years and his students showed outstanding results in the Youth and Junior Championships. Whether you want to improve your endgame (basic, typical, complex), middlegame (global strategy, tactics, and typical positions) or expand and deepen the opening repertoire, you are at the right place!

IM Milovan Ratkovic [FIDE 2411]

is a Serbian International Master and chess coach. Some of his top students were able to reach 2400 and 2300 Elo respectively. IM Ratkovic is an active tournament player and one of his near-future goals is to obtain the Grandmaster title.

GM Jesper Thybo [FIDE 2590]

is a 22-year-old Grandmaster from Denmark. Jesper is a member of a Danish National Team, representing his country on multiple occasions. GM Thybo won multiple prestigious chess tournaments including the 2017 U-18 European Championship, the 2018 Copenhagen Chess Challenge, the 2019 Chess House GM, 2021 Radnicki Chess GM. He is also a two-time Danish rapid Champion and a professional chess player and coach.
