About the Authors:

IM Mat Kolosowski [FIDE 2451]

is an International Master from Poland. He is a multiple Polish youth championship medalist. In 2010 he took 5th place in European U-18 Championship. During the course of his chess career Mat won many international tournaments. Apart from being a player, he is also a chess coach who has experience working with students from more than 20 countries. So far he helped a few of them in obtaining their own international titles. Mat has also performed live commentary of the Polish and European Rapid and Blitz Championships.

IM Bence Szabo [FIDE 2406]

is a Hungarian International Master and an active tournament player. Bence previously held the National and European Youth Champion title. IM Szabo has over 10 years of coaching experience with some of his top students becoming National Champions in different age categories and claiming various international norms and titles. Bence works as a head coach in one of the largest chess schools in Hungary. He has worked with multiple medal-winning Olympic Grandmasters and other top talents.

IM David Fitzsimons [FIDE 2416]

is an International Master from Ireland. He achieved this title in 2018 having reached a peak rating of 2416 in 2015, and scoring his three IM norms in consecutive seasons of the Four Nations Chess League (4NCL) from 2016 – 2018. He became the first and only Irish player to win an international open event, the inaugural Summer Prague Open in 2014, and has won numerous tournaments and national and regional titles in classical chess, rapid, and blitz. He has played for Ireland in two Olympiads (2010 and 2018) and has been selected to represent Ireland again at the upcoming Moscow Olympiad.

FM Yuriy Krykun (FIDE 2382)

Is a Ukrainian FIDE master and member of the National Team with ELO of 2372 and IM norm. He played in many National and International tournaments, winning over 10 medals. Bronze medal winner in European U18 Championship. Full-time chess player, coach, and author of multiple publications.

GM Jacek Stopa (FIDE 2544)

Jacek Stopa, originally from Poland, started playing chess at the age of 8 after randomly buying a chess set on a winter vacation. His father taught him how to play and he soon became addicted. Jacek earned his International Master title at age 18 and was the European Team Chess Champion in Solving Chess Problems in 2008. He has developed into a very effective chess instructor over the last six years, helping many young chess players reach their maximum potential.

IM Erlend Mikalsen (FIDE 2406)

is a Norwegian International Master actively working towards obtaining the GM norm. Erlend is an attacking player, making decisions based on intuition and calculation. IM Mikalsen has 8 years of coaching experience. His best performances include winning the Norwegian Junior Championship in 2013.

GM Daniel Gormally (FIDE 2573)

is one of the United Kingdom’s top Grandmasters. He represented England in the 2006 chess Olympiad as well as in many other international events. GM Gormally is a world-renowned chess coach and a prominent expert in the Calculation Technique. He is a regular contributor at ChessBase and New in Chess publications, as well as the author of multiple chess books and DVDs.
